THE BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE - PART 3

This is the third in an eight part study titled: 'the born again experience'.
Let's do a quick review of this passage: A religious leader of Jesus' time named Nicodemus is talking to Jesus. Jesus now speaks in John 3:3,

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

What does it mean to be born again?

Born again can be translated "born from above". To be born again means to be born from above spiritually. All mankind has been born once, but only Christians are born again, or born from above.

Being born again is not something that we decide to you, nor is it anything that any mere person can give you. Being born again comes directly from God. Speaking of those who have been born again we are told:

John 1:13
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

This verse teaches us that we are not born again of blood: by our parents; nor of the will of the flesh: not according to our "free will", decision or choice; nor of the will of man: someone didn't bestow it upon you; "but of God".

Christians are born again.........OF GOD!

The bible says: "John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven." (John 3:27).

God sends His Spirit to His people, and through His Word they are "born again" - born of God's Spirit: they by the Spirit and through the gospel (the good news about Christ) are born again and look to Christ alone for all their salvation!

Jesus teaches of the work of the Holy Spirit in the experience in being born again, or born from above:

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:14
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Jesus tells us when we are born again that the Spirit will "glorify me" (Jesus). When one is born again, they will look to Christ for salvation!

1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

God takes His incorruptible (non perishing) Word, and accompanied by His Spirit, sinners are born again and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for ALL of salvation!

Have you been born again?

Have I?

When one is born again, they know that the Bible is the Word of God and Jesus is the Saviour sent from God. We will for a few more studies continue to study this doctrine of being born again.

Or text today ends saying if we are not born again, we cannot see the kingdom of God.

What is the kingdom of God?

God plainly tells us:

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink (it is not what you do or don't do); but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The kingdom of God is when one is born again by the Spirit, they realize they can now have fellowship with God through His Word and brethren by Jesus Christ!
