THE BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE - PART 8

John 3:8
"The wind bloweth it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."

Jesus here likens the work of the Holy Spirit to the wind: we can't see the wind, but we see it's effects. This is the also how the Holy Spirit works: we can't see the Holy Spirit, but we see it's effects.

The wind blows where it "listeth" (desires) - we have no control over the wind; the same with the Holy Spirit:

"whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? if I ascend up into heaven, thou are there: if I make my bed in hell (the grave) behold thou art there."
(Psalm 139:7-8)

The Holy Spirit takes God's Word and in the new birth (born again) points sinners to Christ for ALL of salvation. If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, it is because God through His Spirit has called you to Himself:

"God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."
(II Thessalonians 2:13-14)

We cannot save anyone - we only have to give the gospel out:

"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)

If God is pleased to reveal Himself to anyone He will through the gospel:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation."
(Romans 1:16)

When one is born again by God, God gives them repentance (a change of heart) to where they repent of false religion and receive the truth (God's Word about Christ):

"If God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth: and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."
(II Timothy 2:25-26)

We can't save ourselves through our works or a decision we make - it takes the work of the Spirit:

The Lord Jesus said:

"It is the Spirit that quikeneth (gives life); the flesh (our works to be saved) profiteth nothing: The words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life."
(John 6:63)

A promise from Jesus Christ:

"If ye then being evil (a sinner by nature and by practice), know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him."
(Luke 11:13)
